Flower Girls | Wedding Traditions

What’s a wedding without the flower girl or ring bearer! But its origins are more interesting than just having those little cuties walk down the isle!  The ring bearer, at least 7 yrs old, was actually a servant boy in Medieval times who was responsible for carrying the bride’s train and the rings.  The pillow, rare in those days, was added to symbolize good fortune for the couple.  The flower girls walked before the bride to represent a blooming from youth to womanhood for the bride. They would carry sheaths of wheat or scatter herbs and grains to symbolize fertility. I found the most interesting claim was that in France it was common for ALL of the brides attendants be only children!  Now that would be a fun Bachelorette party!!! :D
