We were SO lucky to go to Ruby Falls in Tennessee this weekend! It was so beautiful and we loved walking through the cave!!!  It was definitely OSW worthy!!

 

Wedding Fun!!! | Wedding Trivia | Wedding Cake

The wedding cake has some interesting history!  Before the days of smashing wedding cake in each others' face back in "the day," after the wedding the groom would bite out a chunk of a loaf of bread and hold it above the bride's head showering her with crumbs.  Guests would crowd around scavenging for crumbs hoping the morsels would bring them good luck.  The tradition evolved to the bride breaking pieces off of the wedding cake tiny enough to fit through her wedding band and gave it to guests for good luck.  Soon after guests were finally able to get an entire piece of wedding cake, but not to enjoy it at the wedding!  They took their cake home to put under their pillow for good luck and sweet dreams of their future spouses.  Thank goodness the tradition evolved to actually getting a yummy piece of cake and eating it too!  Even if that means the bride and  groom may smash it in each others' face! :D 

These cakes were made by Kate from Honeymoon Bakery in Rome, GA.  By far, my favorite cakes. They are both beautiful and delicious!!!!

Happy FALL!!!!!

My favorite time of the year again!!!  I just LOVE fall!  The weather is cool and crisp! The changing leaves are beautiful!  Lots of cool decorations, and food!! OH! The FALL!! I love it!!! :D

Since I spend most of my days, weeks and months working on weddings, I thought a fun thing to do from time to time was talk about wedding traditions, trivia and folklore.  Why not! It's always interesting to learn about the origins, sometimes pretty funky, of our most important traditions. So I'm calling it Wedding Fun on my blog! :D

 

My first post on Wedding Fun is about that dress! That gorgeous white beautiful dress!  But did you know that before the 19th century women wore any color.  It was the tradition to wear the best dress you own, any color, with furs, silks and velvet to impress the groom and his family. It wasn't until Queen Victoria's wedding in 1840 who wore a pale white gown with orange blossoms.  Apparently it was on  TMZ  and became all the rage! ;D  Now white dresses are the norm symbolizing purity and beauty.  I once had a bride wear a white dress with red rhinstones, and occassionally I'll have bride w with a colored sash, and bold colored shoes have really been a hit lately.  Way to think out of the box ladies!!! :D

Cinthia's wedding is finally here! It seems like forever since I first met with her to chat about the wedding.  Little did I know it was going to be AMAZING!!!!!  I have SO many favorite things from her wedding I need to just make a list....  Her dress.... OMG.... her dress!!  Vera Wang shoes for all of the bridesmaids, AND Vera Wang tuxes for the groomsmen!  They released doves after the ceremony!  A mariachi band played for three hours while the guests ate catered fajitas!  The wedding cake...by only the best, Honeymoon Bakery, was large enough to serve 500!!!!!  Plus working with my favorite planner, Kimberly Jan at one of my favorite venues, Spring Lake!  I can go on, and on, and on, and on!!!! It was truly amazing!! It was a long day, but super fun and one of the awesomest (yes thats a word!) families I've ever worked with!  I had tons of fun and the wedding was just spectacular!!!!

Usually on a hot day like Saturday, I'm not interested in showing photos of me working a wedding because I am SO not picture worthy!  But I was very excited when my assistant snapped this shot of me with my bride, Cinthia!  You can't see any of the sweat all over my face, and the willow tree covered up some of my curves! Thanks willow tree!  :D  HAHAH!  And, check out that dress!!! :D

E-Session | Rome, GA Police Engagement Session

Cinthia asked me to shoot her family's photos about a year or two ago and I was so excited because she loves pictures!! So, we've gotten together a few times since then for more and more family photos.  Now Cinthia is getting married and asked me to shoot her wedding! I'm SUPER excited about all of the cool details and the awesome party after the ceremony!  Their wedding is this Saturday and we just shot their engagement session, so it's perfect timing to announce their nuptuals in just a couple of days!! :D  I can't wait!

Nicole + Keith's wedding!!! | The Farm, Rome, GA | Rustic Weddings Atlanta

Having their wedding at The Farm in Rome, GA was the perfect choice for Nicole and Keith's rustic wedding!  It was a beautiful day, great friends and family, and the party was awesome!  One "favorite things" about their wedding was actually the energy of all of the guests at the reception.  Everyone was laughing, dancing and just having a great time!  It was the perfect way to celebrate Nicole and Keith's wedding!  Another favorite thing from their wedding was the flowers by Gail Williams of A Perfect Wedding Floral Design. She is truly one of the most talented florists I've ever worked with. She is so diverse and creative! I just love her proffessionally and personally!  Nikole and Keith were such a super sweet couple, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! :D  Congrats!!!
